Drawing A Way Out
Escaping into creativity when reality collapses.
The screen goes dark. A white envelope arrives with an unexpected message that changes everything. An abrupt end to a life you thought you knew. This is the exact moment where the narrative of the Travel Alone video begins. It is not about everyday routines, but the terrifying second when reality fractures. When the walls of a silent, minimalist room suddenly close in, the human mind instinctively looks for an exit. We wanted to capture that paralyzing shock and the desperate need to find a sanctuary when your world unexpectedly collapses.
When reality becomes too heavy to bear, we retreat into our own imagination. For the protagonist of Travel Alone, this escape takes the form of pure, unadulterated creativity. The oppressive weight of the cinematic deep obsidian shadows is suddenly pierced by frantic, hand-drawn pencil strokes.

Animating the mental escape
To visualize this psychological survival mechanism, we looked back at the golden era of mixed media music videos where the boundary between the real and the drawn dissolves. We were deeply inspired by the groundbreaking pencil-sketching in A-ha’s Take On Me and the tactile, frantic energy of Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer. We wanted to channel that same visual magic where drawings come alive, but update it with a dark, modern electropop twist to fit the premium retro-futurism of our new era.
The mind draws its own getaway vehicle, offering a rapid mental escape. As the relentless synth bassline drives the track forward, the two visual worlds begin to clash. The hyper-realistic film of the ongoing crisis and the frantic sketches of the escape fight for dominance on the screen. It becomes a beautiful, chaotic representation of using imagination and art to survive a trauma. The harsh reality tries to tear the paper apart, while the creative mind keeps drawing new roads. Ultimately, the video for Travel Alone is a reminder that even in our darkest and most isolated moments, the creative spirit can always sketch a way forward.
