03 // Biography
Futuro is a constant frequency in a shifting landscape. Established in Stockholm in 2001 by Marcus Dennerstedt, Andreas Säfström and Daniel Ahlgren, the project was born from the neon-lit friction of the first Electroclash wave. Futuro occupies the cinematic space between Ladytron, The Knife and Pet Shop Boys — a sophisticated blend of analog depth and modern aggression. The music is 100% human-made.
Formed in 2001 by Marcus Dennerstedt, Andreas Säfström, and Daniel Ahlgren, Futuro began as three friends chasing the tactile pulse of analog synthesizers and drum machines. In the underground clubs of the early 2000s, where electroclash met Scandinavian pop craft, the trio carved out a distinct creative space. Over the following two decades, they quietly built a dense, uncompromising catalog of melodically sharp, mechanically driven music, accompanied by self-directed visual experiments and artwork.
While broader mainstream visibility was never the project's primary outcome, the creative engine never stalled. The band consistently documented their journey, treating every song and video as a chapter in an ongoing artistic archive. Tracks that explored themes of mechanization, modern disillusionment, and nocturnal energy were developed with meticulous care, existing just below the radar of transient digital trends.
Now, as the raw urgency of electroclash and early millennium electronic aesthetics returns to the cultural foreground, Futuro enters a decisive new chapter. In 2026, the band unveils newly produced material that sharpens their classic formula of propulsive baselines and evocative melodic hooks. At the same time, they are systematically re-activating their extensive back catalog, opening the vault to a body of work that spans a quarter of a century. Futuro is not staging a nostalgic reunion, but continuing a continuous twenty-five-year mission, bringing a seasoned perspective and restored artifacts to an era finally catching up with their sound.
04 // Press & highlights
“Forget Technology comes across like a sonic manifesto, a track that doesn’t just aim to entertain but stands as a real statement of intent: a digital burnout anthem. The track presents itself with such a clear aesthetic direction and an extremely self-aware production. The technical production is crisp, cutting, built to carry a message that is both political and personal at the same time: an invitation to step back from an over‑mediated reality. Futuro has a defined and radical sonic vision.”
“Futuro delivers the song of the year, one of those tracks that completely envelops you in its own atmosphere and even shifts your state of mind. Travel Alone takes us straight to that moment of nostalgia and melancholy, built on electronic sounds that create an atmosphere that feels almost unreal.”
“The minimalist electronic intro [of Forget Technology] sets a great atmosphere right away, giving off subtle Kraftwerk vibes. Overall, the production really reminds me of that early 2000s Scandinavian indie-pop vibe, balancing a polished production with a raw, naive emotional core. Great direction!”
“Really cool retro vibes on this [Forget Technology]. I love the production and pretty distinctively Swedish take on 80s synth pop. It has undercurrents of skwee too. You guys have a cool style, so keep doing what you're doing.”
